First published in July 2001, the contents of Main Trend Magazine collected assorted research reports written by postgraduates from the Graduate Institute of Art History and Art Criticism in Tainan National University of the Arts. The issues included are "Deliberating on the Environment", "Evolution of Exhibit Spaces in Taiwan", "Art Critics in Taiwan", "Studies of Taiwanese Art", "Art Education in Taiwan", "Art Education of Taiwanese Aborigines~ Rukai Tribe", "Progress of Galleries in Taiwan", 'Post "2002 Taipei Biennial" and "CO2 Taiwan Avant-Garde Documenta"', "Progress of Exhibit Spaces in Taiwan~ Museums", "Progress of Exhibit Spaces in Taiwan~ Sequel 1", "Progress of Exhibition Spaces in Taiwan~ Sequel 2", and "The Second Attack~ Pilgrimage to Taiwanese Contemporary Art", etc. In the meantime, the magazine not only specialized on the topics of the middle-aged artists, including Mao-Lin Yang, Ming-Che Hwang, Zheng-Chang Guo, Shi-Hong Yang, Zai-Dong Zheng, Chun-Chun Lai, The-I Chu, Zhen-Pin Dong, Kun-Jung Hu, Ming-Tse Lee, and Tien-Chang Wu, etc. but also comprised special columns written by Chia Chi Jason Wang, J.J.Shih, Yan-Chou Jiang, Zai-Qin Ni, Zuei-Wen Chen, and Jian-Min Huang, etc. Although "Main Trend" was a non-commercial magazine, there were still 12 periodicals that had been issued for three years. However, Main Trend Gallery still keeps on devoting itself to this island with a much more macroscopic art perspective even though the magazine has been suspended so far.
